Bathala Unisex Sunga - Marshmallow
This swim brief is cut like the traditional Brazilian sunga, which means they are longer on the side seams of the hips. Unlike the traditional swim brief cut that looks looks more like a wide triangle these have a rectangular look when on. They are the hybrid between the traditional swim brief cut and a boxer brief. I made these to fit a little more relaxed than the traditional sunga so if you want them to fit tighter buy 1 size down. They have an exposed spaghetti strap on the hips that come out of brushed gold eyelets on the front and the back and for even more extra sass you can hike up the spaghetti to give the g-string illusion. It’s finished off with the angeloestrada clear toggle stopper at the front. Wear the spaghetti strap on the hips up or down, it’s up to you!
In ancient Tagalog mythology, there was a creator, a supreme god. He was known as Bathala Maykapal or Lumikha. According to F. Landa Jocano’s Outline of Philippine Mythology (1969), Bathala is the grand conserver of the universe – the caretaker of nature and the creatures of the earth. “Hence the beautiful word “bahala” or “mabahala” meaning “to care.” From this evolved the Filipino attitude of “bahala na” or “Let Bathala take care of it” which gives a person tremendous courage in the face of danger.”
